The difference between 4x and 8x cores isn't 2x, but it is, or rather--could be--significant. Not always though. However, the difference between 2.8 and 3.0 is very minor. Chances out if you are maxing out @ 2.8 you'll be maxing out @ 3.0. My take...the 2.8 is a better deal provided everything else ...

I concur. In other words, spend the dough on the cores, and buy more memory later. If you buy memory now, you'll have to buy a new computer to get more cores. Now, as to whether one NEEDS 8 cores, different issue. Bus speed is everything with multiple cores when it comes to audio stuff. If the bus i...

For what it's worth, I liked model 12. However, it is very difficult to setup remote controllers to work with it. AND, and I thought this was nearly inexcusable, the dp's own drum maps doesn't come with defaults for model 12. What I mean is if you select a model 12 drum kit, the associated g...

I noticed the electronic keys kit had a really nice MIDI learn screenshot.

Hope?

There is a way to assign any MIDI CC to an NRPN...most of the DP VI Packins respond to NRPN only. I went through this a while back and can't remember the results, I just remember it was unpleasant like you say and I eventually gave up. Edit: Went through inbox and... Here is what I got from tech sup...

It is not easy. There should be some kind of per track filter you can add, convert cc XYZ -> nrpn 123.

I will try playing around with the volumes on some multis to confirm. Here is a topic via google... http://logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=70390&sid=aa7e4853664c0d2d06634d00d9a9968d I would add, part of the appeal of logic studio (for me anyway) is mainstage...this is a pretty nifty tool for no...

L8 doesn't have folders, which makes multi-timbural insts. a pain. I like the arrange window, it gels for me, as I live (musically anyway) in patterns. Learning curve isn't too bad, will have to try that hyper edit--not sure if that is a one time conversion thing, or a constant real time. I spent 4 ...

Old can be enjoyable! I was watching Hitchock's 'The Man Who Knew Too Much' yesterday--seen it before, both in vhs/dvd form, and as a thematic imprint in countless other movies. Still liked it...... Anyway, there are pieces of DP that I miss over in Logic Land--I am having a hell of a time figuring ...

Definitely keep what you have...moah is bettah!

Actually, I seem to be in the minority here, I didn't find DP's VI's to be that bad either.

Lets not forget L8 is more then just a daw... MainStage is pretty damn cool. I actually like it a lot. Hopefully I can wire it up to act as a nice / pretty patch editor for my outboard gear as well. But back to MOTU DP, I agree that its not the main focus. My main gripe--virus ti and nrpn integratio...

I think the issue is why would someone pay $750 for new DP or $400 for upgrade when L8 is $500... Obviously, there are a lot of people happy with DP. I was not one of them in the end...I was for a while. I found it very intuitive...but was stifled with what I wanted to do: real time control of exist...
