LOL

I want what I want and I want it now?

Good things come to those who wait.
That said, we've waited long enough for DP 5.5 or 6.0, IMHO, and many of those who don't agree will admit they'd prefer an update sooner rather than later.

Seems the demigods at Apple are trying to blow away MOTU (and Digidesign, et al).

if logic is easier i dont see why we would want to stick with dp if its more complicated. listen, most of you guy have been producing music since the mid to late 80's. we used tape then, hit record. thats it, you dont need anything else. my best work was done on reel to reel and the only thing i had to worry about is the performance. honestly i wish we could blow all this crap up and get back to making music. maybe we are taking this to seriously (technology) because, what else can we do in music that hasnt been done already....really. youre not goona play a note, a chord progression, sing or write a lyric that has not from a theoretical aspect been done before. so we trust this technolgy, to help us produce something that hasnt been produced before. i think once we get past producing music, and get back to music with some sense of "soul", and not worry about the "features" included in the software. because this stuff really doesn't help us become better musicans or songwriters. all we need is a recorder thats it. if logic this that simple then fine, but dp is simple in that regards to. i think we need to get back to making music.

Old can be enjoyable! I was watching Hitchock's 'The Man Who Knew Too Much' yesterday--seen it before, both in vhs/dvd form, and as a thematic imprint in countless other movies. Still liked it......

Anyway, there are pieces of DP that I miss over in Logic Land--I am having a hell of a time figuring out how to convert a cc XXX to cc YYY on a per track basis. But Logic works with my equipment so I pretty much am stuck. Sniff sniff.

I haven't had time to catch up with everything after my vacation, as there is so much new product coming out of a sudden. I didn't realise the new lower-priced version of Logic was to include the instruments.

At this point, having written off Logic's instruments as not being accessible to me, I have already found good substitutes for all of them. If they had released this version a year ago when I was still ramping up my software instrument collection to replace my hardware, it would be different.

Even so, I imagine this will help their sales quite a bit. But $499 is still a big piece of change, so I think some people here are overrating the reach of this product. Primarily it probably encourages more Garage Band owners to upgrade. I doubt it will cause "switchers" or cut into DP's sales.

i'm not so sure i'd say that. things happen that make people look elsewhere. how many refugees did dp get from the cubase4 mess?
i'd be willing to bet that l7's environment had a strong hand in scaring more than a few off. had 8 been out, it may have been a different story altogether.
so even if it doesn't cause immediate jumpage, it probably plants the seed for when the next catastrophic release (or whatever other "last straw") of some daw hits the street.

I completely agree,.. I came to DP from the Nuendo/C4 camp... Now Nuendo 4 is due out in a month,.. I'm not really interested anymore.

I think this WILL cause DP to loose market share in the MAC DAW arena with both,. DP converts, AND most new entries into the game.

Step up and play ball MOTU...

all things fluctuate in a pendulum like manner. Sometimes the momentum is up and other times down. Often the down time/clam preludes something bigger.
Motu's 20+ years in this industry will not vaporize in leu of L8.....
What exciting times, the bar just keeps getting better. I'm just delighted thinking at what DP could counter punch with
Macbook pro, 3 gigs of ram, osx 10.62, Dp 5.13, Live 8.1.2, Reason 4, Tc powercore Virus, Albino 3.02, proper ergonomic sitting posture, plenty of coffee (french press only with a pinch of cardamon added)
My dp inspired music.....

It's easy,

Go to hyper edit, you'll see the CC's used on said track.
Double click on it ( the name to the left) a box from: to opens up enter the CC you want.

simple.,
