Yes I use the 4 pin fire wire port. With an simple •‚¬ 10,- ($ 8,-) 6 to 4 pin cable. Works great! I once used the PCMCIA slot with for wireless internet but it crashed every 5 minutes. Don't know if that was the laptop's or the card's fault but i'm not so keen on using it anymore. Let us know how y...

It's a very usefull setup.

The most used setup would be
828 as main unit and the 8 pre as ADAT converter.

keep in mind to use two ADAT cables, cause the 8pre sync on the in-port.

Recorded a max of 24 channels 24bit/48kHz no problems. Now with the 8 pre I'm looking forward the enlarge the max and ...

Looking at the pics It look like the tom mic's will pick up a lot of snare. Try an different OH setup. now the look like \ / which is kinda wrong combing to different stereo techniques. try | | (normal AB) or \/ (xy) or / \ (NOS, ORTF) Then when you've recorded. Flip the phase on all the mic's axcep...

It's strange that it will lock on 44.1 and not on 48 Maybe it's wiser to take it back to the store and let them test it. Let them test is with a proper SPdif cable. If it will work them, buy the cable from them. If it doesn't work let them fix it. Have you run an SPdif setup with the VS-880 as a sla...

silly remark maybe, but are you using a proper Spdif cable?
You can't use a normal RCA cable.

when dasiychaining you'll keep the outputs (main/headphone). At least i think those don't work in this setup. On the 8pre #2 that is.

Anybody got some pictures of the inside of an 828mkII?

Hi guys. If read the stuff about blacklion and what they do. As I'm from the Netherlands shipping my motu's and stuff doesn't feel right so I figured I'd do the opamp mods myself (or have it done by a good, more technical friend) and then put an external clock (big ben or a mutec) on it which can al...

I think the #1 #2 8pre only tells your computer which is which. So #1 doesn't have to be the most important one.
And if it works when #2 clocks, then let it clock :)

I can say for sure you won't loose any inputs, but I can't say for sure if you'll keep the main out and the headphone out.

I'll have to look into that one.

you spent almost $ 2000,- on nuendo and buy an 8pre as an interface to this :?: (possible, but an interesting choice) Killing the possibilty to get some surround monitoring or some other flexible setup. In other words all the extra options Nuendo offers you kill with the i/o the 8pre offers. I think...

had this problem a while ago.

try for starters to delete/uninstall the drivers etc
and then reinstall them

other then that (been there, done that got the T-shirt) it's XP causing the trouble. You'll forced to reinstall XP.

I hope the first one does the trick

go to the windows configuration menu/screen
go to the audio setup
here you can choose the output for windows default sound
probebly there's an internal soundblastertype card and there's the motu.
mainouts, analog, headphones etc

I think you'll know when you'll see it
