help with jack or soundflower!!!
thanks in advance. I am trying to get the two inputs outputs of either of these little routing programs to show up in DP. I went to system prefs and sound and have selected them there for input and output 2 channels. The somebody wrote that I needed to go to hardware setup and select either one as t...

my tech says do away with cuemix...
His take is that it is confusing and creates two sets of input stages. His recommend is just to use the mixing board layout and channel inputs there as the mixer. Is anybody doing it this way? I have to admit the "2 stages" of inputs can get cunfusing, but I am used to Cuemix. thx all, JUD

direct hardware playthrough....with reverb?
I don't know how to get zero latency monitoring of a wet vocal track on input. dry is easy, but sometimes you want to record with effects. I have DP 5.11 and Cuemix. obviously "record through effects" but then you have delay and problems with claritiy and timing. what are your solutions to...

great feedback
I am working on the room, the mics, the pres, et al. I guess one of the clues is, even with sampled stuff, once I get a bunch of track in a mix, I am adding 10K, 2K, and 200 to everything. The process should be that eq fixes a problem but that the sound quality, particularly of sampled stuff, should...

on improving sound quality of DP set-up
HEY ALL - I am wanting to improve the recording quality of my setup. I have a dual G5 2GIG/4Gig ram machine running DP 5.11. I use a 2408Mk3 and a 1224, both of which have been upgraded by Black Lion to better converters. I have pretty good mics and pres. I do most stuff with samples in the box, rec...

would big ben help my 2408/1224 setup?
I had black lion upgrade my converters in both units. They were only able to upgrade the clock in the 2408, not the 1224 (an older unit that).
Would the Apogee Big Ben make a significant difference?
Would the Rosetta?
Sorry for the clueless questions. I am just starting to grok this stuff.

MY BAD! thanks for answering this and giving me input!
Frodo, Black, Brad, and all helpers! I should have checked this sooner. I am running a 2408 and 1224 combination. I think I have hit the limit of my G5 because as soon as I start running virtual instruments it tanks. I even have UAD plugin and as soon as I hit 70% on that I am in trouble. Frodo is r...

Do I need more RAM or a faster G5?
HI ALL - I have a G5 dual 2.0/4gigsRam. In running Ivory/mach 5 and some plugs, it overloads the computer and the message comes up about the processor and to raise the buffer (already set to 512..1024 would have too much latency for tracking. I do have the UAD card and run that at about 1/2 useage. ...

2408 and 828 together?
HEY ALL - I am having trouble getting both of these to show up in my tracks window as input options at the same time. IF I run the 2408 by itself no problem. But as soon as I fire up the 828, it takes over as the master device and the inputs and access to the 2408 disappear from the tracks window. W...

2408 and 828 together?
HEY > I am wanting to run these two at the same time and as soon as I plug in the 828, it shows up as master device and "takes over" DP in term of available output channels in the tracks windows. In fact, I cant hear anything out of the 2408 once the 828 is activated. What gives here? ther...

help! strange problem with DP dumping...
...it doesnt crash. But DP 5.11 on my G5 dual 2.0 sort of blacks out the screen and the lights on my 2408 (those three lights that tell you you have the connection) go from steady to blinking on and off. Screen goes completely black and audio playback is suspended. Then if I move my mouse around a l...

Sound quality of 2408/1224 converters
OK. I am running DP 5.11 with a 2408MK3/1224 setup. I had black lion audio upgrade the converters in both units, and they put a new clock in the 2408 so both interfaces are running off the 2408 word clock. I did notice a difference in sound when I got them back, but I don't know if it is all that mu...

20 track mix session brings DP to it's knees?
Is this normal? I have a G5 dual 2.0 w/4 gigs of ram. AND a UAD card. In mixing a recent vocal session, the program was running so slowly it felt like a G3. I raised the sample buffer to 1024. Sure I was running some plugins, but I was bussing tracks to one reverb to keep the count down. My UAD card...
