you need to go into audio MIDI setup in Osx and create a new device for the yamaha motif. This needs to be routed to your interface. Have you tried this?

I use a Lacie d2 which I've been pretty happy with, good price point and seems to be reliable. I think hard drives need to get some regular use or they become unreliable..

Lacie D2 triple interface drives are great, I have one. Very portable, and you have a rackmounting option too. For desktop use i leave it sitting on top of one of the styrofoam packing ends to damp the negligible noise from the motor: this works really well. Highly recommended, couldn't be happier!

Yes, the charger in the Aluminum PB G4's is smart enough to not charge the battery unless it needs it. That said, it is recommended by Apple that to get the best life out of a battery, you should cycle it at least once a month. avoid clavia Ddrum triggers, the kick drum is hopeless and double triggers all the time. If you are a metal artist this may suit you!! Yamaha do a great module to convert a mic signal into triggers, works perfectly every time. Will get back to you with the model, i'm not a drummer (but i know loads)

One thing I will say is that for whatever reason my Gina 24 sounds much better in this machine than it did on a PC. Greater dynamics and wider soundstage. Any Idea why ?
