Re: New Mac Options
I'm thinking an M1X Mac mini might be wonderful, and a LOT less expensive! Time will tell. Agreed. All-in-one is not an option for me as I'm already invested in monitors. My MP 5,1 has been my lifeblood for 10 years but it's showing it's age even with GPU/TitanRidge. An M1 with a usable chunk of RA...

Re: MOTU Discovery not discovering my 16A
Probably a little late to the game here but in case it helps someone in the future, I was having a hell of a problem with my MOTU 16A and my MacPro 2010 (10.13.6). Discovery app would never find it. Sometimes power off would fix it after waiting a few minutes. Sometimes reboot. Eventually it would s...

Re: New MOTU Touch Console
Ah! This makes sense. I saw this but I didn't get it at first. Not sure why I would want to control the mixer in the DA/AD but I guess I see the case if it's used as a live unit or for monitor mixing.

Plugin Window behavior
I'm using DP 9.1. Had a question regarding the layout of the plugin window. Can we not adjust the width of the columns in this window? I'd like to see if my plug is mono>stereo or whatever but my columns don't look like their adjustable. Am I wrong here? The other thing is this. If I'm in say, my Wa...

Re: PCI 424 Crackles and Pops [RESOLVED]
UPDATE: Just for those who might find this later. I shipped my unit (2408mk3 and pci424e) back to MOTU for service. They shipped me a new unit and card and all is well. No clicks or ticks. The one telltale sign I saw during this issue was the fact that the TDIF light on the 1st bank was always lit e...

Re: PCI 424 Crackles and Pops [RESOLVED]
xad001x0w: Just so we don't dirty the water here, the issue is not related to any disk streaming of audio or cpu problems. Go back and carefully read posts 11 and 15. This is a very specific hardware issue that is obviously not related to what you were experiencing. I have this exact same problem wi...

Re: Who is running a SSD for their internal system drive?
So you guys are dragging a copy of each project to your SSD drive, working from there and then saving changes to a standard drive correct? I work IT for living and the experiences I've had with SSDs was not good. We purchased Dell laptops with SSDs as factory and although they were amazingly fast fo...

Re: New version of PLAY with Wordbuilder integration (finall
Sort of sad that I never got this working well enough to take advantage of it back when I first bought it. It was a monster to get working and it really took the fun out of the whole process. Plus the CPU cycles needed to run just one instance of it was pretty substantial. After installing the lates...

Re: How are the included virtual instruments that come with
I was just going through the VIs in DP7 this week as I too had been away for awhile. I love BassLine. That is without a doubt, cool. Modulo is speaking to me but I haven't worked with it enough yet. It was noted that there is a difference in marketing when comparing to something like Logic (the obvi...

Re: Quad Core vs 8 Core vs ?
Using dissimilar sizes can lead to slow downs in the access of memory which is always bad considering the memory here is a slow bottle neck. Yes, matched memory sets are preferred but not mandatory. Supposedly, you take a latency hit, however, any other form of disk storage will be FAR slower than ...

Re: Quad Core vs 8 Core vs ?
Ken - cutting edge technology is always expensive at first. You should know this. It's not cutting edge.... Most of these speed tests really do not test the shear power of multicore processors. They are merely a set of programs or executions with timed tested output. They throw that into a spread s...

Re: Quad Core vs 8 Core vs ?
For the most part I would agree. Actually all the reviews point to that fact. But understand the reviews are only running a "typical" standard battery of tests, speed tests (mem read, write), photoshop, itunes, etc... Now, if you look at any app that is coded to utilize multi cores it will...

Re: Can I use 2 G5 Machines as a cluster with DP7?
I guess the real answer is "sort of" but there currently isn't a really nice solution. I think you could cobble something together using Bidule and the optical audio out from the G5 into the card on your new system. It's been done. Many use Mac minis for that. I was also going to say Vienn...

I don't really care if someone wants to gripe about what is wrong with DP just do it in the appropriate forum: http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's one thing to be bummed that a feature isn't available but then to continue on...
