We just want to know where to get it fixed. It's impossible to call them, you just always get a busy signal. Why do people tolerate this? Got through in 3 tries yesterday. I asked some simple, non-emergency questions about my old 828 and instead of just saying to send it in, they took some time to ...

Perhaps you could try booting it before/after the Mac, whichever you're not doing. After a few days of experimenting with this, I think the problem occurs only when the computer is powered on first--BEFORE the 2408. The 2408 is recognized properly (with no flashing lights) when I turn the unit on f...

my experience with repair shops has been uneven I would prefer to have MOTU fix it if possible I don't know, maybe I'm a bit "old school", but because my livelihood is dependent upon my equipment functioning properly I am naturally untrusting of sending my gear in boxes to unknown locatio...

I've had similar experiences with other manufacturers. Where are you located? I'm in the Chicago area and there are several "authorized" repair facilities within driving distance that will repair MOTU gear. I would suggest doing the leg work yourself. MOTU's list might not even hold the mo...

Just to confirm this... I am having the same issue with the blinking meter light on both my 2408 and 24I/O after booting. The order of who gets powered up first doesn't seem to matter. I generally have to restart the Mac once which then solves the problem. When I first purchased the 2408 unit, I had...

Old 828 intermittent spikes - eventually unusable

I just had to replace my old 828 interface. It would just sit idle and intermittently spike on all channels and then on individual channels at random. No audio spiking, just electronically in the unit apparently. Not in any pattern either (i.e. not clock related). With nothing running, the orange li...

I just had an internal WD drive go bad on my G5 and it acted the same as your Lacie. Below is the post I made. Fortunately it was my dedicated audio drive which I had backed up and I could easily replace (though I didn't realize it at the start!). It takes having one's cage rattled a bit to get back...

Since your system is critical to your livelihood, I would definitely wait until all reports are in on compatibility with the elements of your set up (you don't list any here), unless... you buy the computer now and run it along side your working set up as you spec it out. Make sure everything works ...

Update to current Intel drivers on non-Intel machine?

I have a G5 Dual 2gig (pre-Intel). In trying to stay current with the most up-to-date drivers for my 828/2408 and MIDI Express, will I gain anything (or mess up anything) by updating to these latest (Dual Core) audio and MIDI drivers?

Where did you buy it? I'd send it back/exchange it while it's still covered.

five drives to a g5 tower
With two drives it's already pretty warm in there. I can't imagine the heat level generated with all of that... :?
