Has anyone seen this dialog box :
Disk utility has lost its connection with the disk management tool and
cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch disk utility.
I did as instructed and the same message keeps reappearing.
Any clues ?
Many TIA

Restart from your Installer DVD/Disk.
Run Apple'sDiskUtility from your Installer Disk and first do a Repair Disk.
If that shows OK then do a Repair Verifications.
If the Repir Disk shows errors you will need to use a programme such as DiskWarrior 3.0.3 or TechToolPro 4.1.1 to repair the disk.
Excuse me if you know or tried all this stuff.

Hey midiw, any recommendation between these two programs? I've been seeing quite a few keernal panics the past few days and am thinking I should get one or the other. Both seem decent, but i am leaning toward DWarrior. If you have an opinion, I'd appreciate hearing it.midiw wrote:Restart from your Installer DVD/Disk.

Look @ "Disk Utility Error" Thread
On this forum there is a thread labeled "Disk Utility Error". Within it I have posted a solution for the problem you're experiencing. To sum it up, under your receipts folder delete all iTunes packages except for iTunesX.pkg and the iTunes phone driver package can stay as well if you even use it at all.

You should be aware that DiskWarrior is just, as I like to explain, a one trick pony. DiskWarrior can only repair the OS directory. DiskWarrior is excellent at repairing the OS directory and has saved the day for me on more then one occassion.
TechToolPro can also repair the OS directory and it can do much more.
I recommend purchasing both although if funds are tight then start with DiskWarrior.

Thanks for the info. Disk Utility runs fine and repair disk from a second drive ran w/o incident (no errors). I appreciate your view of DW and TT. Many concur with that approach (buying both.) Seems the market is ripe for a new product that does it all well...midiw wrote:If your problems started after updating to QuickTime 704 you might also want to read these postings at MacWorld

Thanks. I have done a lot of reading and it loks like DW is probably the best way to go. CompUSA sells it for 99.99 (but wait) the company sells itonline for 79.99... let's see, the lady of the tiger?Timeline wrote:Disk Warior has fixed stuff that others can't touch. Buy it and trust it!
