Mosaic 1.58 on PowerBook G4 - INSTALL PROBLEM

Post by MaestroMark »

Hi!

I'm trying to install Mosaic 1.58 on my new Apple PowerBook G4 (1.67gHz, 17-inch, System 10.4.3). I'm having problems - here's my routine:

1) I put Mosaic Install Disk into the PowerBook - disk appears on desktop.
2) I double-click on disk icon and this triggers Classic 9 into starting.
3) All the items of the disk appear in a finder window. I double-click on the "install Mosaic 1.58" icon" and the install dialogue box appears. I toggle through the first few screens (licenses, etc.) - I set my folder for installation - then . . .
4) When I click the INSTALL button I get an error message which reads, "Can not find the Install Disk" - Duh!? - We've been working off of the Install Disk for 5 minutes! I still see it on the desktop - why can't my computer see it, too? Please help if you can - thanks!
Mark

Last I heard Mosaic can't run on "Classic," only on 9.2 or below. Sorry-

Mosaic 1.58 on System 9.2.2 WORKS!!!

Post by MaestroMark »

I've been running Mosaic 1.58 on my office computer running OS 9.2.2 for several years with no problems. The Classic 9 system on my PowerBook is 9.2.2 - so why won't it recognize the disk here?

..because Classic is supposed to be a layer in OSX that's not supposed
to access hardware, so as to not bring down the whole OS...
(I believe that would include MIDI)
When Classic was first demoed in OSX, I'm also fairly certain this was brought
up by Apple as well.
As for why your disk isn't recognized, couldn't tell you.
I can tell you that Mosaic will never work (properly) in classic/ OSX.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT MOSAIC WILL NOT RUN IN NEWER MACHINES, THERE IS NO WAY TO INSTALL IT, GET SIBELIUS, THEY TRADE YOUR MOSAIC LICENSE, SO YOU CAN GET SIBELIUS VERY CHEAP.
