pitch shifting

howdy......i looped a farfisa organ drone and want to pitch shift up and down....i tried using the pitch wheel on my MIDI keyboard but it sounds totally artificial.....i want it to sound like a varispeed on a tape deck.....slowing up and down.......i wanted to automate the transpose function to a turn knob on my MIDI keyboard but could not figure out how to do it.....any suggestions for realistic sounding varispeed or pitch effects that you can control....can i accomplish this with mach 5?....
