Scarbee VIs Stability - Comments Welcome

Post by dynamix »

I'd like to get the new Imperial Drums XL VI but I see the Steinberg Key is required. The only Steinberg Key product I own, Groove Agent 2 (Steinbergs very own) crashes DP everytime.

At this point, I'm a little reluctant to get involved with another Steinberg Key product and am thinking of BFD...

How are everybody else's Scarbee VI's treating them?

I have the Keyboard Gold Bundle and it works great. The Steinberg key is required because KGB uses an OEM Halion player dedicated to the Scarbee instruments. It works great as an Audio Unit plug, though I prefer to run it as a standalone rewire slave because I can give it a lot more buffer/pre-load ram without taking any RAM from DP. (I have 8gig in my G5 - if I could put 16gig in, I would). I also have a 4 port external SATA PCI-X card with 4 WD 10k rpm Raptors connected, with one of them dedicated to the Scarbee stuff. (The SID XL drums are on the way.)

My only complaint is that the instrument loading is very slow. But once loaded, it's very solid.
