powerbook partitioning?

Post by kelldammit »

Hi! I was just wondering how you powerbook users out there partition your hard drives (if at all), and if there's a particular recommendation that would work best for me...
at the moment, i have a 100gb hard drive, partitioned in 2. the first partition is 40g, and is the system/software partition. the other partition is 60gb (roughly), the same size as my ipod...and it's where my itunes music library files live.
i have an external fw drive that i'll be using for project folders/files.
i will be using vsti's (battery2 in particular), so i was wondering if i would be best served to:
1. set up my hd as one partition, and put all of my itunes/battery libraries onto it...alongside the software, etc.
2. leave it at two partitions, but move the battery sample library to the second partition, with the itunes music.
3. leave it at two partitions, but install the battery sample library on the system drive.

i'd like to keep the sample libraries and itunes music on the system's physical hard disk if at all possible...just in case inspiration strikes, or i want to listen to something, but can't, because i don't have my external drive with me...

also, typically, when i have a project underway, i copy all of the drum kit samples/patch files for the project into the project's folder, and reference that new folder with the VI. it sure makes for easy archiving, and if you change something, it's all still right there, should something calamitous happen...

what works best for you?
thanks in advance!
