Best way to automate by regions

Post by jeronimo »

One thing I dig on PT is to change automation data by regions, moving volumes around just double click on the audio region on the edit window get the trim tool and move the automation up or down for example.
On DP I can‘t find the best way to do this. What I do is create 4 points and then move points 2 and 3 let‘s say up or down.
I don‘t know if I made myself clear... maybe I can post screenshots to help...
Thanks a lot.

That is what I do. There are benefits to the PT way where automation stays attache to the soundbite, and benefits to the DP way where it stays where it is in the timeline whether you move the audio piece or not.

The prob with the PT way is that if you move audio, it may not requre the same mix parameters it needed before (ie. other tracks are louder in this new spot, thus needing to re write the audio auto anyway. I do love being able to grab a bites entire automation as a group and move it though.

The DP way allows you to preview multiple takes of a vocal for example thru existing automation without have to re-write for each take. Just slide a new take into position with the existing automation and voila...

As to your question, the only other option is to select a region of time, and use "change continous data" under "REGION" and tell it to move the selected range of data by "x". This only works well if all the "nodes" you need to move actually fall within you region.
