Looking for small 1 channel controller
Hey all, I have been using DP forever.. even back when it was just P. Anyway, finally thinking about getting a mixer controller, just a small one channel. iCon that MOTU touts looks buggy according to reviews. Does anyone have the iCon Nano? And Presonus Fader... sad that they dropped DP from their manual. Another subject, that DP seems to be fading into obscurity. I'm devout, but can only hold out so long. I wish for more compatibility, tutorials, documentation, etc. Oh also.. the X-Touch which nobody has in stock...
Anyway, the latest advice/experiences? Just looking for simplicity really. I am a bit concerned the iCon Nano has too many flashing widgets (although best compatibility?).
I'm running a Mac Mini M4.
Thanks

Re: Looking for small 1 channel controller
I have the PreSonus Faderport v2, which I bought used/mint at Reverb.com for $160. Not all functions are working with DP (I haven't tried to set them up) but the motorized fader (which is the only part I really cared about) works great. I'm used to controlling other aspects of DP from my computer numeric keyboard and Arturia Keylab, so haven't bothered investing time into other Faderport function control.
Re: Looking for small 1 channel controller
Thanks I'm trying to decide whether to go that route and have a simple controller with buttons that don't do anything or go full blown with the iCON Nano. Amazon has the Faderport 2 for $179 so it would be a small investment. It is HUI and Mackie so it should work, at least mostly?
Re: Looking for small 1 channel controller
I have a good bit of iCON equipment including a couple of Platform Nano's with D3 displays. DP is my main DAW. They work great! The key is to program them in User Mode. The display is also a huge help.
If you would be interested in one of my Nano's with a display unit, PM me. I'd give you a fair deal and could help you get set up and running. To be clear, this is the original iCON Platform Nano with the D3 display, not the P1.

If nothing else this is boosting my confidence in iCon which is getting a lot of not so great user reviews. Will consider, thanks!

Re: Looking for small 1 channel controller
I am pretty committed to iCON gear. I own a G2 & Pro X with companion expansion controllers. I own an M+ and the 2 Nano's I mentioned. There have been a few firmware issues, a couple of fader board failures, resolvable software set-up issues and slightly mixed experiences with customer support (mostly helpful). That said, some of the poor reviews are due to problems getting perfectly fine systems to work with a particular configuration. Though I haven't been involved with many of these cases, I would venture a guess that many of those problems would have been resolvable with the right information. Working, the systems are fantastic and more than deliver on their promises. That hardware itself is amazing!
I will say that there are some significant differences between a single-fader solution and a multi-fader solution that are worth considering. Namely, the ability to visually scan data via hardware for multiple channels simultaneously. Of course, we still have the computer screen for that and can simply have the tactile control via the hardware, which really is the intended purpose of such devices.
Again, I'd be happy to help you get set up if you decide to go iCON Nano. I don't think you'd be disappointed.
