Kontakt stability?

I've tried using Kontakt in the past and it really didn't work out. For some reason each time I've tried it, a few weeks later I'd find myself with DP being so screwed up and corrupted that I'd have to reinstall the entire system. Like macOS and all! It went that badly.
I honestly have no idea if it was Kontakt or something else. Sure it could have been unrelated. But it's happened at least twice now, maybe even three times...and always a few weeks after trying that free version of Kontakt.
Ofc LOTS of people use Kontakt without issues. Do you use Kontakt reliably with DP? There's some really drool-worth stuff out there for it.

There was a time when Mac OS 14.4 and several versions of Kontakt was a total disaster area, but with the latest updates everything has been stable on my end.

Good to know thank you. Do you happen to use any UA interfaces with it?

No, only MOTU.

DP has been very stable for me as of late, including when using Kontakt, which is a mainstay in my template. I'm running the latest versions of DP, Kontakt and macOS on my M! Mac Studio Ultra. Interface is an 828ES.
There was (and may still be) an issue with Kontakt flickering when using more than a single display. I encountered this, but resolved it by setting both my displays to the same color profile in Mac Settings.

Simply drag-resizing Kontakt's UI a few pixels fixes this for me.

That's good to know. But the color profile trick completely eliminated the issue on my M1 Mac, and the second display still looks fine.

Only MOTU if there are drivers. My other interfaces are Core Audio.

Thank you. Kontakt's been working pretty well. It has its quirks but really DP itself seems way more unstable lol

Of the two Kontakt is the most likely to have issue for sure though. Sonoma 14.3 or so was crazy unstable, crashing DAWs left and right if you had two monitors hooked up. '
Not saying I don't have issues with DP in terms of stability, I'm in a rough patch with it right now, but Kontakt and NI in general are amazing and frustrating at the same time.

Just for clarity I believe this thread is still referring to Kontakt 7. I can't speak for K8.

I don't know about the first issue, but with the second I always use the contextual menu command 'delete folder and preserve tracks' It would be too easy to mistakenly not fully remove a track, it's barely visual whether you actually dragged the track out of the folder unless you drag it above the folder.

I use those accordingly too. In this case the track in question went from the top of the Tracks list to the bottom before deleting the folder, which remained at the top. It happened quite a few times before I figured out what was going on. "Where the heck did that track go...????"
