MIDI Device Groups do not work with MIDI FX...

Post by Michael Canavan »

This is a shortcoming in DP I do not understand? MIDI Device Groups override MIDI FX. So something as useful as transposing one instrument in the device group is not possible with DPs MIDI FX. :banghead:

Suggestion sent.

My impression from the changes in the manual on Device Groups is that they not going to be around much longer. Are they still necessary?

Sorry don't quite get why you would think that? They basically allow you to stack instruments. That's always going to be a bit useful, what isn't is not being able to at the DAW level use MIDI effects to transpose one grouped instruments range.

The way they’re done seems like a holdover from when everything was hardware. Hocketing? Is that what it was called? MOTU specifically tells us to stop using them in the Drum Editor. But if people find them useful, then of course MOTU should fix them.
