new 828, Mac M1 and Cuemix5 adat outputs

Post by Alamous »

Hey stupid question probably but:

How do I get adat outputs to show on the Cuemix5 as stereo mixes? Currently it only shows Main 1-2, Phones 1 and 2 and Lines 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10. So I'm getting mains and then separate monitor mixes for 6 musicians, but shouldn't I also be able to create separate mixes for my adat outs somehow when ever I'm having more than 6 folks recording at the studio?

How many Stereo Buses does the 828 provide? It may be limited to eight, and it looks like you have that many is use already...

If this is the case, you can either go with a few mono mixes or have some players share a mix.

Thank you for the reply, yes, the 828 provides me with 2 headphone outs, and 8 analog outputs, that are obviously possible to patch into 4 stereo mixes or 8 mono mixes. BUT is it really so that I can't use the adat outputs in addition to the analog outputs for monitoring via cuemix? It seems a bit strange concidering the 828 has the ADAT connectivity.

And yes, I think I could create additional monitor mixes by creating aux busses for monitoring in the DAW and assigning them to ADAT outputs, but obviously that is more cumbersome to controll while in a session with actual people.

Having the ability to assign additional mixes via ADAT in cuemix would be a no-brainer improvement if you ask me because all the connectivity is already there, unless there something I'm missing.

Bit late to the party but, from the manual:
"The 828 is equipped with a DSP engine that drives a 44 x 16 monitor mixer, which supplies each analog output pair with a unique monitor mix. Each mix can include any chosen inputs, plus computer output and the separate reverb bus. Effects include 4-band parametric EQ, compression and reverb. The included CueMix 5 app provides easy and intuitive on-screen control of everything from your computer or iOS device."

Sounds like the new one is limited to just the analog outputs. Wonder if that's a hardware limitation? My 828X (and old MK2) can set the CueMix busses to the ADAT outs, but the new one's got some new fangled DSP, and CueMix, that's way beyond the old X model.
