Using DP to record live performances and/or Autotune live vocals

Post by Kenny B »

I am wondering if it is okay to load up DP on my MacBook (2019) which runs the latest Mac OS and use it to record live performances. I thought at one time it is okay to have another copy of DP loaded up and useable on another computer but not sure anymore.

And, in a separate issue: has anyone used DP with Autotune loaded up on a laptop to run Autotune on live vocalist with their monitor mix not using Autotune. There is a video on how to set this up on a Behringer x32 but using another DAW and Waves tune.
2023 Apple Mac Mini Pro M2; 12 Core, 32 GB Unified RAM, Mac OS Venura 13.6.1, 1 TB SSD boot, DP ver. 11.3, Apogee Symphony II 8x8, Axiom 61 Controller, MachFive2, FabFilter plugins, ReLab VSRn24 reverb. Some really great acoustic guitars, Schoeps MK4s, Charter Oak E700 mic, 2 Great River preamps

You are allowed two installations of DP but not in use simultaneously—afik, the license manager has no way of knowing this, however—see below.

The license manager self manages—every installation verifies over the internet the first time it’s launched. A third installation will disable the oldest of the three devices and so on….*

Antares apps including Auto-Tune EFX+ (the version for real time processing of live vocals) do not work over macOS Sonoma at the present time. The plug-ins cannot verify the licenses. This is not an issue over Ventura.

*Performer Lite is different. It verifies the license over the internet every time it is launched.

If Antares doesn't get their act together on Sonoma soon, I'll be giving the Live mode of bx_crispytuner a try.

There are many ways to buy it these days for less than $79.99. One is the 2/3/4 bundle

Another is to do any of their current MEGA Subscriptions that include the plugs you want and let you keep 3/6/10 per year as permanent licenses depending on your level.

I have Antares Duo and also Choir and Auto-Tune Central shows them as "installed" and then the next button over says "Activate" yet I'm pretty sure they ARE indeed activated even though not reflected there. Pretty sure I used them before on Sonoma, but they were originally installed and activated when my machine was on Ventura I think.

Well, I'm trying to reach Anteras now but they are not responding very quickly to a chat. So I have a license for AutoTune 8 Native on my computer. I really don't want to invest big $$$ into situation but want to investigate to see if it can work. Might have to upgrade my Autotune to even get it working. I have not used it for quite awhile.

I finally got somebody's attention over at Antares and received a reply:
Thank you for following up.
In this case, our license cleaner application should solve this for you. Please follow these steps:

1. Quit Auto-Tune Central

2. Download and run the license cleaner file (it does not have a UI. so no window will open when running the file):
Mac: https://antares.sfo2.cdn.digitaloceansp ... -macOS.zip
Windows;[ https://antares.sfo2.cdn.digitaloceansp ... .0-win.zip

3. Access the following URL and click on "Container": http://localhost:22352/dashboard.html

4.

5. If you see the message "No Codemeter license/container found" it ran successfully.

6.

7. Launch Auto-Tune Central and reactivate your licenses

Please let us know if you encounter further issues.
The License Cleaner app did crash every time I ran it but the "No Codemeter license/container found" screen did show up as expected. I had to re-download and re-activate my Antares apps but it worked this time.

While I was doing this, I went to WIBU Systems and updated my CodeMeter Run Time. Apparently, they were updated last week. The current build is 8.10
https://www.wibu.com/us/support/user/do ... tware.html

Anyway, AutoTune Pro 11, EFX and my AVOX plugs work in DP over Sonoma—at least the AUs do. I had AT Pro 10 but since I was refusing to upgrade to AT Pro 11 till this was resolved, I was given a discount code that worked so I rang the bell.

My AUs all pass validation but three of my VST3s do not. Don't really care if the functionality is the same but I've kicked the ball back to Antares.

I purchased a Mac Pro laptop M1 silicon in 2021
and have been waiting for Antares to update Autotune to Mac OS 14 Sonoma after it died on Monteray as I couldn’t go back. I have several owned Autotune devices and was on unlimited.
It’s been a total waist of money. It is now 2024
and has still not been updated as it doesn’t work. The new Mac OS 15 is due out soon. Antares sadly are not a company who are go ahead and slow unlike most other companies. I now use Waves and Crispy tuner, and Synchro Arts Revoice 5 who are always up to date give or take a couple of months. Waves were ready almost on the same day when Sonoma came out. So I’m afraid Antares are sadly unreliable and not very pro active.

Did you not see my posts and screen shots?

The current version of Autotune AUs do work over Sonoma. A few of the VST3s do not,

I stoped using Waves years ago and don’t miss it.
