iK Multimedia Fame Studios Reverb crashes DP 11.21 [RESOLVED].

Post by David Polich »

Just bought iK's Fame Studios Reverb plugin, as it is on sale now and with my jam points I got it for $35.

Opened up a DP project on my M1 MacBook Pro..put Fame Studios Reverb on an aux track - instant crash. I can launch TrackS 5 standalone and load Fame Studios into that, no issues. It seems it is DP specific.

Anyone else experiencing this issue with Fame Studios Reverb plugin?

Sounds like it’s not yet Apple Silicon native. Try running DP in Rosetta 2 mode and see if it still crashes. If it doesn’t, that’s the problem. Sometimes non AS native plugs don’t work well with whatever method MOTU is using to have native and non native plugs run side by side while DP is running native. So if that’s the case you have to either run DP in Rosetta 2 or use a plug-in like Komplete Kontrol or Blue Cat Audio PatchWork as a shell. That is, instantiate either of those, then open the problem plug in inside it.

Thanks, James. Yes, iK confirmed to me that Fame Studio is not Apple Silicon native yet, and if I want to run it in DP then I have to run DP under Rosetta. They informed me that M1 native for Fame Studio is "upcoming".

Thankfully, my main music production machine is a 2019 8-core Mac Pro, no problems with Fame Studio there.

Off topic, I know, but I tried Fame on ancient 5,1 and it works fine.
Some nice sonic flavors.
Well worth the bargain price.
All is well
