DP 11.2 Melodyne Integration

Post by dhelpling »

I know it was just released today, but I am so far unsuccessful in figuring this out. I am working on a project with a pitchy vocalist (I know, it's shocking) and was actually just going to purchase Melodyne yesterday. I've done the update and read through the new pages in the manual (963,964 mostly), but still not finding it. I'm assuming (yes, assuming), that the DP 11.2 install installed Melodyne now that it says it is "included", but perhaps that's where I'm wrong. I'm an a Mac and I don't use consolidated windows. I can just go purchase Melodyne - it's super inexpensive, but it would be cool to try it integrated since it is here. Thanks much - David Helpling.

I think it’s a safe bet that a serial for Melodyne Essential is now in your MOTU account, you then download Essential from the Celemony web page. :)

Also note that you have to use the VST3 version of Melodyne to use it with DP AFAIK.

There is also an AU version that seems to function the same, so I'm not sure why the manual says DP only supports ARA2 with VST3...

So, I'm not the only one having issues getting it to load. I followed all the instructions from both MOTU and Celemony including registering the serial number that MOTU provided. Melodyne shows as both a VST3 and AU plugin in the preferences with the AU one already selected. I selected a soundbite and chose the option to use ARA on the soundbite from the Audio menu. However when I click the ARA menu on the track like they show in the screen grab, I just have the option to Bypass ARA, not select Melodyne.

Even though it comes with both AU and VST3 versions, it apparently will only load with the VST3 plugin. Once I enabled that one and disabled the AU and restarted audio, it loaded as expected and did the initial prompt to authenticate.

If you can turn off the VST3 version, and only install the AU version, and it works the same as the VST3 version then I am impressed. Since it flies in the face of what MOTU advises. Maybe I need to make another video. This could be a full-time job. :-)

I can use the AU of Melodyne Essential but I got that through iZotope—Nectar and a couple other products bundle it. I’m away this week so I won’t be able to test anything till next.

With iZotope, the way you get your copy of Melodyne is to register your copy of Nectar (or…) with Celemony.

IIRC, the issue will be if you can register your copy with Celemony. If so, you might be able to download the AU from them. Celemony does not use your serial# authentication in DP — instead, they build a custom download that only you can use.

That said, though I can use Melodyne 5 Essential, I don’t since I’ve had Studio for years.

I already have Melodyne Studio. I use only AUs... Will this just work now in DP, or do I need to mess with enabling VST3s (and turning off the AUs) for Melodyne? Confused!..;-)

Either way, this is really great to finally get ARA with Melodyne. Finally! Very much appreciated.

I tested... yes, you can use the AU version, but ARA only works with VST3 version of Melodyne, at least on my Mac Studio. I disabled the AU version, because I use AU as my primary plugin format. Magically, ARA opened a new segment within the Consolidated Window.

Note you must have the MAS VST3 Enabler plugin enabled
