DVDR formatting question, DVDR from a PC, will they work?

Just thought I'd ask in case there is an issue. If someone needs to burn me a DVDR of some files and they use a PC is my mac gonna read them fine? Is there a format setting they need to be concerned with? I know there is settings for amaking a DVDR data disk readable for PC's when I make them but have never received one from a PC user. I assume it wont be an issue. Am I correct on that?

A DVD-ROM (UDF) is what you're looking for. This should work on both platforms and should be able to be burned by both platforms.
