MAC STUDIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by Gate 13 »

Did you watch the apple event today?
I am still speechless from the new release!!
Any comments? I think I a m losing my mind?
Would you prefer it over the mac mini? If I am right I did not hear anything about a M1 Max mac mini, right? Which leaves us only with one choice; mac studio!
Oh My God!

A plumber called whom I needed to talk to during the presentation. Was pricing mentioned?

Yes, that is the exact Mac I have been wanting for years.

Yes. M1 Max version from $1999, Ultra from $3999. Taking orders today. https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/mac-studio

The minimum price of entry for what I need would be the entry level Ultra with 128gb RAM, 1TB storage: $4799.00. A little steep, but within reach.

Another MacMini would be redundant. Mac Studio is essentially the anticipated new MacMini.

Ahhhh... pricing just went up. Of course, my 18 core iMac Pro just dropped in value big time. I wonder if I can do this as a wash.

I want it, I want it, I want it…

Damn, $9,298.00 plus tax including the new Studio Display and stand. Less than what I paid for what I have now.

Is the Display required or older monitors would be OK, too? Especially for us, audio guys, that don't care us much about pixels...?

I don't think so.
M1 ULTRa, 1TB space and 64 memory shows as 3999 and 3,499 for education pricing. Where did you see the 2599? Any link?

Uh James... there is no "probably" about that one. The M1 Max, 64GB RAM, 2TB onboard storage is $2.999. 4K 27" displays begin below $300, 5K @ $1.500 and this new Studio display with tilt stand at $1,599.

I just priced one with the M1 Ultra 48 core (+$1,400), 64GB, 8TB onboard (+$1,800) and the display with Nano Glass (+$300) and the tilt & height adjustable stand (+$400) to come up with $8,498.

We got the Nano-texture glass on my wife's 2020 iMac and both of us love it for older eyes.

Simultaneously supports up to five displays:

Support for up to four Pro Display XDRs (6K resolution at 60Hz and over a billion colors) over USB-C and one 4K display (4K resolution at 60Hz and over a billion colors) over HDMI
Thunderbolt 4 digital video output supports

Native DisplayPort output over USB‑C
Thunderbolt 2, DVI, and VGA output supported using adapters (sold separately)
HDMI display video output

Support for one display with up to 4K resolution at 60Hz
DVI output using HDMI to DVI Adapter (sold separately)
Older monitors will be fine though you will probably want at least 4K such as this @ $348 LG. Others are available once again under $300.

Yeah. I’m just tight financially right now and will have to put this off for a while. Glad to see it had an HDMI output that supports 4K at 60Hz. I can use that for my 43” Samsung main display and can get an adapter for my 30” Cinema. Still I have to buy new audio interfaces and hopefully my MTP/AV USB will work. I may be fine with 32GB ram.

You mean with older monitors (10 or more years) it will not work? Why 4K when we don't really care about pixels and image quality as audio people?
