making a simple video of audio and pics
am trying to learn how to make a simple video of different pics showing, while hearing the related song. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Try iMovie...

Easy. iMovie is included in the MacOS. Drag, drop, stretch the edges, render, done. Fade in about if you like, cross-fade the images if you want to get fancy.
I normally use Adobe Premiere Elements for this as their tools make it even easier and it has a ton of effects—cheap when bundled with Photoshop Elements. FinalCut ProX can do this, of course but it's like using a tourniquet on a mosquito bite.
