Audio recording inconsistencies

Hi all. I recently bumped up to DP10. I think I like it but my MacPro (early2008) is probably the oldest to still make the cut. My issue is intermittent. When recording takes of audio, occasionally DP will record, then next take not record. Once this starts, it doesn’t change. Drives me batty, especially when you’re trying to perfect a solo or vocal take.. only way I’ve resolved is to shut down DP, repair permissions and re-open DP. Or possibly trash some preferences, can’t remember. But it was also happening in DP 8 for me as well. Any thoughts are much appreciated!

Try setting up a new User Account in macOS and working from it.

Your issue is a new one to me.

Repairing Permissions, while technically still possible in El Capitán, accomplishes absolutely nothing. If you use a tool that does this, no need to waste the time. OS 10.11 does not use receipts to verify file permissions which is why it was removed from Disk Utility.

It's the weirdest thing, but I remember seeing this exact same bug for a while, within the past two years, and maybe even within the past twelve months, but definitely not yet this calendar year. So I unfortunately no longer remember what tricks I did to get it out of its intermittent no-record mode, and don't recall if there was some combination of settings?

I may have re-loaded a duplicate of the active chunk and then deleted the original (after verification), which is a technique that does sometimes get DP unstuck from some unexplained quirk.

BTW since I upgraded my 09 cheese grater to 12 core 3.46mhz and ram I have not had issues like this. Your '08 is likely just too old.
