I have only noticed this problem with the current update, but I didn't do much mixing last year (focusing on gigs, my day job, and rapidly tracking neglected compositions).
I did a lot of mixing the past few days, and lost a lot of time when I had to keep redoing my stems because I would notice they didn't sound like my earlier mix settings. What I noticed was that the send knobs would re-zero for some reason. Yet I'm not completely certain what conditions cause this.
This happens on chunks that have multiple mixes set up, but the multiple mixes are already present at the time the problem arises, so it isn't an issue of some mix settings getting left behind when starting a new mix. I can even cause it to happen immediately as opposed to only after switching mixes or which tab has the active focus. Yet other send knobs will retain their values.
I think what MIGHT be happening, is that a send knob that has different values in different mixes, may be resetting -- especially after switching either the mix or the active view (Tracks vs. Mix, e.g.).
For my own workflow, I tend to have a Tracking Mix that never gets more than rough mix treatment; just enough to make overdubs go smoothly. Then I have a Stereo Mix where I do the actual stems, bussing, effects, inserts, reverb, etc. So that's the place where I tend to fiddle with the send knobs for the stem sub-mixes and also for the aux sends for reverb, delay, etc. I tend to leave them at zero in my main Tracking mix.
I'm just mentioning these details as well all have different workflows. It's the best I can do for now, in helping others to reproduce or verify the problem. But if I notice additional prerequisites for the behaviour to occur, I will come back and update this report.
I am finalizing an actual album of my own (vs. contributing to others) for the first time in 3 years at the moment, so I will probably come across this bug frequently in the next few days. For now, I will try to remember the bug so I don't bounce or render a stem incorrectly before I finalize a mix for mastering and public release.
