DP10 records but won't play back aftertouch data

Hi All,

I'm a bit rusty with my automation in DP10 and can't figure out why I can automate everything except mono pressure. I can play it through and record it, but it won't play back along with the other data (pitch bend, etc). Ideas? Thanks. Winslow

Are you sure mono pressure is not playing back? Could it be your receiving device isn't set up to respond to pressure data it is receiving?

Hi,

It's a soft synth and it responds to pressure data "live" (i.e. playthrough from my controller to DP to the instrument) so I know the synth is receiving. DP records the data, which I can see and edit. But on playback, either the synth won't respond or DP's not transmitting. Volume, PB, mod wheel, etc., all work fine. - sebsi

Does the synth respond to both mono and poly aftertouch?

I'm getting this too. I just tried it with MIDI Monitor, and can confirm that I'm recording channel pressure, but on playback I get a weird combination of channel volume of 127 and pan. I see this has been reported before:

I'm not in a position to send in a complete report, but I think it's very important to do so before the next release.

I struggled with the mysterious Sustain CC bug a few years ago. After MOTU updated DP and told me the problem was fixed, I was still having to record MIDI on two tracks to get sustain events to function properly. Dumping preferences, removing DP with clean reinstall... nothing worked until I created a new User Account on my Mac. Magic!

That's messed up! Controller sends aftertouch, DP records aftertouch, DP plays back something else? Oooph. Pretty embarrassing.

It would be useful to know if this is a behavior caused by corrupt preferences (a lingering DP issue), or a corrupt project file (another lingering DP issue). FWIW, I don't have any other programs for which I've ever had to trash prefs, granted DP is the MOST complex program I will ever hope to use.

I've been in perform mode for a few months, but it sounds like 10.01 never fixed this, that's a huge bummer. DP10.0 had this bug as well, it would record aftertouch data, but not play it back.

I did with 10.0, I'll drop another one. It's a real drag IMO, hopefully we get an update to DP10 with Summer NAMM, that would be nice.

Same here. Records mono aftertouch, but doesn't play it back, according to MIDI Monitor (with MIDI monitor as the destination in the Tracks window)

I assume this worked in V9?

Yes, it definitely worked in 9. I've deleted 9 from my system because of possible conflicts. I heard from Brandon today at MOTU, and he wants me to go through the usual troubleshooting steps. While I appreciate his response, my goal is to just get his colleagues to duplicate this on site.

I'm sort of paranoid now. I feel I need to check playback and record of all sorts of CC data, and I just don't have the time or energy to do this.

I think it's only afterouch, as if that's not a big deal. I updated my Tech Link for 10.01, it's been over 4 months since I first reported this.
