Remove Pro Tools Aggregate I/O?

Post by bkshepard »

Is it possible to remove the Pro Tools Aggregate I/O? It got installed several years ago when I used Pro Tools for a short time and now it seems to be causing audio problems for other drivers. I don't use Pro Tools anymore and I only have a single interface, so I really don't need this driver and would like to get rid of it. Unfortunately, I can't find where it's hiding.

If that's the exact name, use Find in the Finder menu. You'll probably have to show invisible files and System Files are included.

If that doesn't reveal it, there are shareware utilities such as FindFile and EasyFind that make it pretty easy.

Once found, right-click and send to Trash. If a System file or otherwise in use, you may have to reboot before you can empty.

I don't think there is a driver for the PT Aggregate Device - it's just a configuration in AMS like any other aggregate device. To get rid of it just highlight it and click the minus button at the bottom of the AMS audio window. If you ever run PT again it recreates it on startup.

Yeah, that's what I finally ended up doing and it seems to have done the trick. Thanks!
