removing MIDI assignment

I've been digging in the manual for awhile, after putting up with this pop-up for too long, not finding a solution.

I used to have a Frontier Designs Alphatrack, but it's been dead and gone for a couple of years. Every project opens the 'remap MIDI devices' dialog at startup, with the message 'some MIDI assignments could not be found in the current configuration'.

For the life of me I can't find a way to remove the assignment. The Alphatrack bundle is not installed in the library.

No, it doesn't appear there or anywhere else I've found.

I'm wondering if this is a project template bug, since my usual template dates to the time I had the Alphatrack. I'll try a fresh one. It seems like I had another template bug at one point that was similar, though I forget what it was.
