Behringer ADA8200->MOTU 828mk3/CueMix issue

Post by aragoto »

Hi all, my first post here.

I've just bought a Behringer ADA8200 to hook up to my 828mk3 via ADAT to give some extra analogue inputs. I have the ADA8200 set as the master clock with the 828 slaved to it.

I'm seeing a couple of odd things happen: (1) whichever channel of the ADA8200 I connect instruments to, the signal comes through on channels 13 and 14 of Ableton Live. (2) *all* system sounds (master output from Live, YouTube vids, notification sounds) come through on channels 13 and 14 too (so if, for example, I have a synth connected to one of the ADA8200's inputs, I can select channel 13 to record from in Live, but the recording contains both the channel 13 input and a bounce of all the other already recorded channels along with it). In fact, I can hear input from the ADA8200 all the time even without Ableton running, and even with the ADA8200 input channel volume knob turned down, implying that the sound is passing straight through from ADA to 828mk3 to speakers.

I'm stuck as to what's going wrong, and changing settings in CueMix (a piece of software I find cryptic at the best of times) isn't having any effect.

Has anyone here had a similar experience they were able to resolve, or any ideas in general?

[UPDATE]: When I turn off the ADA8200 the same issue with all sound coming through on two channels in Ableton persists - except it's now channels 9/10. If I disable those inputs in the Ableton configuration, channels 5 and 6 now get the input. Is this a CueMix issue?
