DP10 and missing Mackie Control Driver?

Post by csavetman »

I currently have DP 9.5.2 and DP10 installed on my Mac Pro running High Sierra.
Since installing DP10, my Mackie Control driver has gone missing from DP 9. When I go to Control surface setup under DP 9.5.2, it only shows EuCon driver.
It shows up fine in DP10, but I have an upcoming recording I would like to start in V9 since I’m just more used to it right now.
Any idea on how to get Mackie Control to show back up in DP9 ( or have it available in both 9 AND 10?

Thanks
Carlos

No real solution to give you, but I do have the same issue. It's only showing the EuCon driver driver in OS9.

The last DP installer run overwrites files in shared resources. If you need to run 9.52 again, reinstall and you should see the Mackie Control Driver. Certain functionality in 10 will no longer work till you reinstall it again—no, I don’t know exactly what.

This has been the way DP works going back to 2. I know of no way to have the full functionality of 9.52 and 10 simultaneously without having them on two different drives. Or 9.52 and 9.51... or 9 and 8... or 8 and 7.24... and so on.

That's interesting, pretty much every DAW I use is like that to some degree, though Ableton are pretty good about it, which makes sense since it's dead easy to get on their beta team these days, as in you sign up for it... How to upset free beta testers, make it hard for them to roll back to an earlier version for serious work.

I'm pretty solid on DP10 though so not a big deal. Mostly I'm noticing it because the hack to get Slate Raven to work with DP10 is to open 9, open the Raven software, close 9 then open 10.

Hey Carlos, I had the same problem years ago with going between versions. What I did was to copy the older version's Mackie control driver and put it in a folder, then the new version's driver into a different folder (they're both named the same thing). Then I would just copy the one from the folder that corresponds to the version I want to use, into where it goes in the Library/Audio folder. I could go back and forth all day that way!
