Mine is still on the bookshelf...Hideout wrote:Sorry but I think that a two month grace period for a free upgrade to DP10 is downright stingy! I've only had DP9.5 since September. Humbug!![]()

stubbsonic wrote:There wouldn't be any harm in asking MOTU for the update, if you bought 9.5 in September. You never know, they might just have some lovely unpublished policy. However, you might not want to lead with "boo!" when you reach out.
Sometimes with the timings of things, it makes sense to skip a paid version. The price is the same whether you update from 9 to 10, or 9 to 11.
Agreed. Once burned by DP 6 makes one wary! I was going to early upgrade but 9's working fine. Another thing (especially if you're mid project) is the possible re-learning curve. I have things set very specifically and I know the interface well. I don't ant to be distracted by the new whistles and bells and layout. I still want to control interface colors (hello Amplidood...) and see things the way I see them in the current version.dix wrote:This won't be much comfort, but there's a good chance DP10.0 won't be stable enough for professional work right out of the gate.
Thanks, but I'm not actually new to DP. I had been using 7.24 most happily for years and also because I could not upgrade my Mac to anything higher than 10.7. I have always been happy to save my pennies and upgrade to the next version but this experience along with the perfunctory "I apologize for the inconvenience" response pissed me off. For $200, I'm giving very serious thought to Logic Pro.stubbsonic wrote:Bummer. It's an unfortunate early impression for you, being so new to the software.
DP 9.5 is magnificent software, and you might not be as mindful of that fact in this particular moment. You've not been robbed. You (hopefully) knew what you were paying for, i.e., you knew what v9.5 had going for it. And you knew that at some point, a new version would come. You can either only buy software right after a new release, or you can get to work with the version that's out.
I don't think it is such a poor reflection on MOTU. It is just an unfortunate factor of this particular model of software sales. Still, I STRONGLY prefer it to the subscription model (not to take this topic off the rails).
You can hold off on updating until v11, and by then "the wound" will have scarred over.
No contest, IMO, especially if you're working to picture or do serious MIDI editing. I also hate the way Apple apps all look and work like I'm on a friggin' phone. Just sayin...Hideout wrote:For $200, I'm giving very serious thought to Logic Pro.
