Leslie-rotary in DP 9 plugins ?

Post by Gone To Lunch »

Is there anything in the DP 9 plugins that can do a Leslie-style rotary speaker effect ?

No. There are a number of 3rd party plugs.

PSP L'otary2 is a good one but there are many others. Regularly $99 — all PSP plugins are 44% off through tomorrow making it $55 till then. There's a 30 day demo.

If you have purchased PSP before, your actual price will be less. PSP has cumulative discounts based on previous purchases. Any sales add the discount on top.

The only freebie I know is part of the mda AU bundle but that's 32bit only. It still works in DP 9 but only if you have 32Lives ($99).

Melda Productions has one that I bought recently when it was on 50% off sale. I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Their audio demos sound good. It almost seems too complicated and full-featured, and maybe designed less for Hammond Organ than other stuff.

I use the Melda one and it does do that and more :). PSP version, as is customary (and not because I'm polish ;) also rocks.

I forget that I have the Melda plug, too. I ought to revisit that someday.

Besides L’otary, I also have B-Scanner. This recreates the mechanical vibrato from the A-100, B3, C3 and other vintage Hammonds. $38 through tomorrow.

If going for Goldie McJohn’s sound with Steppenwolf, you place the rotary emulation after B-Scannet in the effects chain. Listening to most of the classic tracks, McJohn liked the full on — you can hear it on a slow Leslie sweep. When the Leslie is spinning fast, the combined effect is insane.

Actually, it’s the rock ‘n roll of my junior high school years. :band:

The PSP and Melda plugs are different enough that it doesn't hurt to own them all. :-) And I am looking forward to eventually applying PSP's B-Scanner to something other than organ, just as they intended.

Here's a great way to go. Blue3 is a killer B3 organ with a killer leslie. It also comes with a second leslie that is usable for anything else. The whole thing costs around $100. ggaudio.com They have a free trial too.
