DP 9 (Mac) not communicating with my MIDI controller
Suddenly I am unable to get DP9 to accept signals from my MIDI controller (Axiom 61), so I can't record on MIDI tracks. The MIDI instrument in DP is Aria player, using Garritan libraries. I have tried Mac Audio/MIDI setup. When I am using a standalone Aria player I have no problems with the MIDI controller communicating. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
John Newell

Are you able to start a new output bundle?

I also went back to an older project that I created a month ago, and the same thing is happening. Did I unwittingly change some setting?MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Are you able to start a new output bundle?

Yes, I can create a new output bundle. Also, I went back to a project using DP 7.24 and had no problem with MIDI controller communicating.
Is there something having to do with Remap MIDI devices, MIDI device groups, or MIDI monitor that I need to do?

Make sure all drivers are up to date.
Check DP MIDI Settings.

Re: DP 9 (Mac) not communicating with my MIDI controller
I've had glitchy behavior with AudioMIDI Setup, where it forgets my controller, and yesterday, I even had to tap that "rescan MIDI" button at the top. (This was happening as recently as yesterday).
M1 MBP; OS 15.3, FF800, DP 11.33, PC3K7, K2661, iPad6, Godin XTSA (w/ SY-1000), 2 Ibanez 5-string basses (1 fretted, 1 fretless), FX galore

I'm not sure what you mean... On MIDI monitor, my Axiom keyboard appears and lights up when I play a key. Could you mean something about the IAC Driver?HCMarkus wrote:Make sure all drivers are up to date.

Re: DP 9 (Mac) not communicating with my MIDI controller
MOTU Tech support was able to help. The problem occurred with multiple projects, so I followed the directions sent to me to deal with Preferences corruption. It worked.

Re: DP 9 (Mac) not communicating with my MIDI controller
Here is the advice MOTU tech support sent:
Digital Performer Corruption Tips Project glitches
Have you noticed this behavior in multiple DP projects? If a specific Digital Performer project consistently exhibits issues, try launching the project in Safe Mode.
Quit DP. Hold the Alt/ Option key click the DP icon/.dpdoc file as if to launch normally. In the Plug-In Set Selection window that appears, select 'Safe'. This will disable all third-party plug-ins. If the project launches and plays correctly when in Safe Mode, suspect a third-party plug-in issue. If the issue continues when in Safe Mode, the project file may be corrupted.
Try restoring the project via the following methods:
(1.) Create an empty project and use File > Load to open the project in question. Be sure to select "Load Chunks" and highlight the Chunk(s) you wish to transfer, as well as any Soundbites, Consoles, Settings, etc. The new, loaded Chunk will appear in the Chunks window.
(2.) Use File > Save A Copy As... to create a duplicate of the project. After selecting the new file location, be sure to select "Duplicate audio and copy shared samples to project" so that all audio files from the original project are copied as well.
(3.) Use DP's Clippings function to transfer sequence data from one project to another. Project > Clippings > New Digital Performer Clippings Window opens a small, floating window ('Untitled' by default). Drag any data you wish transferred into this Clippings Window — this can include Soundbites, MIDI data, Tracks, or entire Chunks/Sequences. Then, open a new project and use Project > Clippings to access your previously created Clippings Window at the bottom of this menu. Drag the contents this window into a new empty project.
(4.) If you can identify a point in time at which the issue began, you could try opening the project from an autosave in the project folder. Autosave settings are configured in Preferences > General > Document > Autosave.
Preferences corruption
If the issue occurs in multiple projects, DP's preferences may be corrupt. You can confirm this by launching DP in another user account on your computer. Preference files are user-specific. Alternatively, use the following steps to manually reset DP's preferences on Mac:
Note that this process will reset any custom configurations you may have set, such as Themes/ Colors, Project Templates, and Command Bindings. It will also cause DP to rescan your audio plug-ins upon startup.
First, quit DP. Then, open any Finder window and click the Go menu. With the menu exposed, hold the Option key and click the Library item that appears in the list. Scroll down to the folder called Preferences, and locate the folder and .plist files named “com.motu.DigitalPerformer,” as well as "com.motu.MotuAudioSystem." Move these to the desktop, open DP and test the behavior. If the behavior is corrected, you can try replacing specific preference files from within the com.motu.DigitalPerformer folder, but I recommend resetting them manually.
