Crossfade tool doesn't work???

I installed mach5 tonight, and for the life of me, I can't get the crossfade function to work. I click on both the crossfade tool and the all-in-one tool, but neither do anything in the waveform editor. I've tried on both 'Forward Crossfade' and 'Alternate Crossfade' loop modes. Is this a known issue?

DP4.12, MachFive 1.2 (MAS), Dual G5 with 1.5 GB RAM, 828mkII....

ah, nevemind. Had to move the loop start point to a different point other than the beginning of the sample....
