problem with a Bounce to Disk

Post by menright »

Trying to bounce what for me is a fairly typical project: maybe thirty tracks including all the Auxes, plus two instantiations of Mach5 with a half-dozen parts each. But I can't bounce, and get this error (which I haven't seen before):

Emergency Stop
File buffer not ready (Disk is too slow? Too many tracks?)
(MotuAudioSystem Mas [1:0])

Any clues as to what is happening here? And why does it only happen with this file, which is not larger or more varied than most of my other files?

thanks,
Mike E

One of the reasons I rarely use bounce to disk. I just run all tracks to a bus and record the bus in realtime. Just my work habit. Seems like there have long been issues with bouncing and, since I'd always have to play back the bounce to check it anyway, I might as well just run it in realtime.

Does this happen every time you try to bounce this file?

mike -

Yeah, only with this file, and every time I try the bounce. I'm freezing tracks right now and I will try again when that's done. In the meantime I'm prepared to go the stubsonic route and channel everything to an Aux track and record it. But I'm wondering why this is happening!

This is an OS error.

What is your buffer size? Try increasing it.

Quit other applications including DropBox. Then run sudo purge in Terminal to free up physical RAM.

See if that helps.
