Quick MTP AV Question

Post by zeronyne »

I've owned a Timepiece II forever, and I was considering getting a Timepiece AV so I could network them to a modern Mac (I hate getting rid of perfectly good hardware). When I had checked used prices a few years ago, they were still quite high, but I noticed that recently, they've fallen under $175 US (this is for the USB version).

Is it no longer being supported? I'm curious as to why it's so cheap now.

Thanks.

They've been discontinued. There's at least one SMTPE rate that they don't support. There's less demand for hardware MIDI as more use VIs and USB. Other than that, nothing wrong with them.

Lots of used units without the latest firmware chip sets. If it does not say 2.0.1 on startup, proceed with caution. MOTU ran out of the upgrade chip sets in 2012 and replacements are not available from anyone.
