Updated to Yosemite, now DP8 does this when I launch..SOLVED

Post by Killahurts »

I went from Mavericks to 10.10.4 recently, and everything seems to work except this error message. It happens whenever I launch DP8. It takes it a while to come up though- if I just let it sit on the welcome window, it will come up in a minute or two. If I immediately open a document, it will come up while the document is loading and interrupt, or it will come up after loading, in which case pressing continue will make all the samples/VIs load again (as though I changed the hardware settings). In any event, pressing continue fixes it until the next launch, and there doesn't seem to be any repercussions while I'm working. I reinstalled, permissions repair, etc., no luck.

I realize it could be a hardware/driver issue (RME MADI), but I just wondered if this looked familiar to any of you guys.

Reinstall DP. Repair permissions and reboot. See if you still have a problem -- you shouldn't.

Thanks Mike.. I did that already, didn't seem to help. I had also installed DP 9 When I was still on Mavericks, but that only lasted a couple days

I thought about installing DP 9 again on this new system, just to see if this problem is still there or not, but DP9 changed a lot of stuff with DP8, that required me to reinstall 8 just to go back and have some sort of stability.

I see that when another program or the OS is using audio at a different sample rate than the DP default (or session). Finale will launch at 44.1 and if DP is running at 48 (my default) I'll see that message.

Well, I was finally able to get my backup disks going again, so I was able to install the latest RME driver. No luck. Everything works with the driver, but I still get this error message every time I launch DP.. and now, it seems to be waiting longer and longer after launch before it shows up. I thought it was fixed after the driver update.. but 9-10 minutes into working with the project, and it happens. It's kind of a big deal if I have a large project with lots of VIs, because "continue"makes them all reload, although that fixes everything until the next launch.

So it's just an inconvenience, albeit an inconvenient one. Just wish I could figure out where it's coming from.. I suspect the system update at this point. Something is making the MAS think that it's taking over a different sample rate or something, like MLC wrote about, even though I've been in 44.1kHz. the whole way.

Worth mentioning here that it happens in both DP8 and DP9.

I was thinking, something in my audio system apparently didn't make it into Yosemite. So I went hunting for it. It was ProTools. ProTools 9 to be exact.

I had bought into having it as a universal, blah blah a few years back, didn't end up using it really.. but it had put a bunch of crap on my drive that's been with me since. There was no uninstall available, so I had to manually remove every one of these files from my Library, as per a list some kind soul posted on the web.. and there were a lot of them!

I didn't even know if it would work but it did, the message and subsequent reload no longer occur! Where I found it was in the Audio MIDI Setup app. I repaired the permissions a lot through all this, one must.

I swear DP 9 was snappier for a while after I did all this, but then I tried to automate the pitch on a guitar note and it crashed. Guess I need to go back to 8.. again..
