Sample names and bulk import

Post by Percy the Burp King »

I was having trouble bulk-importing some third-party drum samples with the velocity switch option in the import window. Hereeeez what I discovered:

The samples in the drumkit presets that came with M5 use names like:
BD 2Skin Tight 1 VO1
BD 2Skin Tight 1 VO2
BD 2Skin Tight 1 VO3
etc.

I successfully bulk-imported these samples into a new preset.

The drum samples I had difficulty importing used names like:
Kick soft
Kick medium
Kick hard

Kick soft 2
Kickt medium 2
Kick hard 2
etc.

Mach 5 was alphabetizing the soft/medium/hard labels with Hard coming before Medium coming before Soft. As a result, the loudest sample hit would be in the low volume velocity range (bottom of the velocity map rather than on top) and when hitting the piano keyboard in the key mapper window volume would decrease rather than increase as I hit the key progressively further away from me.

When I renamed the samples like Kick 1 VO1, Kick 1 VO2, Kick 1 VO3, they bulk-imported properly when I selected Velocity Switch.

Posting solutions before there are problems makes good sense.
