Has this Waves and DP problem been resolved??

Hello.

I don't even know if this was an issue to some of you to start with, but with DP7.24 and Waves 7.1.1.6 there's been a problem since at least DP4 (and I report it until now :shake: )

No matter what Waves plug-in I'm using, if I automate something, and select a point of that parameter, the Event Information window doesn't reflect the true value of the parameter as seen in the plug-in.

For instance, instead of seeing the automation point for a Renaissance Compressor as a Ratio value of 3:1 or 4:1, I see 500.000 or 600.000 in the Event Info window.
Same with its Gain parameter... If I take a snapshot and the Gain parameter is set at the default (0.00 dB in the compressor), and I select it and see it in the Event Info window, it will read 500.000 instead of 0.00.

This makes it impossible to edit plug-in parameters numerically AND graphically because the values and the scales do not correspond, and each parameter seems to be set arbitrarily within a weird range that tells you nothing about the real value. Waves' parameters have a scale (range) from 0 (all the way down) to 1000.000, as seen by DP, no matter what the parameter is. What the heck?

Has that changed with DP8? Please tell me it has... :smash:

Believe it or not, I don't remember ever entering values in that way with WAVES plugs, but I see the same thing you describe. When the Gain on RenComp was set to 0.00, the display in the Sequence Editor showed 500.000. When I clicked in the field to try and change the value, DP crashed. LOL!

I'm glad I don't rely on this method very often. :?

(Still using DP7.24)

It crashed?! :o

Usually I use that method to correct or tweak the values that were recorded with my Novation controller, or tweak previously taken snapshots.

If I want to edit it graphically, the best I can do is to "calculate" (a ojo de buen cubero, as we say here) by figuring a visual scale according to the position of the vector in the given space in the GE. As you can imagine, that makes it very imprecise.

If I want to set the Gain numerically (or tweak its previously set value) at -6dB, I'd have to GUESS and type something in the vicinity of 394.892. Isn't that... idiotic, to be polite? Why doesn't DP show the parameter values as seen in the plug-in??? :?

Ah yes, first time I've heard anyone describe it. And sadly, yes, it's still there as of DP8.05 (haven't put 8.06 through it's courses) and Waves9. Thought it was just me.

Only waves plugin I typically automate is H-EQ, which is my primary EQ these days.

I don't think I've had a crash in DP7.24 in over a year. That's why I'm still sticking to this version. It's been phenomenal for me.

I reopened DP and gave it another shot. It didn't crash. I replaced the Gain value to 300.000 in the Sequence Editor, and it ended up showing as -12.0 in the RenComp plug-in window.

Edit: I'm using WAVES V8.

I hear you, brother. Been looking at this for a long time.
