cannot drag and drop soundbites into tracks window

Post by marta »

Jus at a reference regarding my knowledge, I have been a DP user since DP3. I spent more time on DP3 and DP5. Due to OS restraints prior to getting my new iMac, I only recently jumped up to DP8. My problem is this: when I ope a pre-existing project from DP5, I can see the audio in the waveform editor window and the soundbites window, etc, and I can hear the audio when played or swiped. But I CANNOT drag and drop the soundbite into the tracks wind in order to get to work there. Nor into the Sequence editor window. I have done everything correctly i.e.: track compatibility sampling rate and bits etc. But the soundbite will simply not appear in these windows. I cannot find any answer to this problem in the manual either. Any suggestions? thank you.

Go to Setup > View Filter and make sure Soundbites is checked on.

MOTU needs to do something about this, like put some kind of alert or flag up somewhere, because this has messed up a lot of people.

Also, make sure you're not trying to drag a stereo file into a mono track, or vice versa. I do that all the time.

YES IT WORKED !!!!
Thank you Dan and Mike!!

Wow, unbelievable there it was just as you said in the view filter. I cannot believe that this is not alerted in any manual. who would have EVER thought one would have to switch on a view something so normal as the main window we work in all the time? its silly. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have been working on other things in terms of file up saves and DAT transfer so I didn't implement this reply until today. ( MOTU since 1991, not 1986 btw. ( first with plain old Performer and a 4 track tape deck haha! )
