Uninstall older versions

This has probably already been asked, but my search terms were too broad to find an answer.

I am running DP 7.24 on my Mac. I was afraid to delete older versions for fear that I might screw up some shared files or something (shades of my old PC days cropping up). I currently still have 7.22. 7.0 and 6.02 installed. Can I safely delete these to reclaim some much needed HD space?

The short answer is yes.

There are two ways to do it. One is to drag the old versions to the trash.

If you are looking to make your system as lean as possible, run the uninstallers. When you run the installer, you will come to a drop down menu - uninstall is one of the options. Run uninstall from the updater first, then from your CD. Do it for both 6 and 7. When you're done, reinstall DP 7 from the CD and update to 7.24. Reauthorize with your CD and you're done.

I confess that I've never run the uninstallers for DP 5 or 6 on my system. I'm pretty certain that those installers stopped working after OS 10.6.8 anyway. No doubt there are residual files in my system but I am not concerned.

Just for kicks, I ran the uninstallers for DP 5 and 6. The 6.03 and 5.13 didn't do much but 6.02, 5.12 sand 5.11 went through a lot of motions. I have no idea no much they really removed, however (nor do I really care). My original CDs did not work being PPC only so I did not bother.

Afterwards, I fired up an old DP 7 project and it told me that some plugins were missing. I clicked on OK and did not save. I re-installed DP 7.24, re-opened the project and everything was now fine.
