Loving Mountain Lion (yes... I'm VERY late to the party!)

Post by James Steele »

I'm late to the party because I only recently got a refurbished MacPro 4,1, but I have to say how much I'm enjoying Mountain Lion... at last, right? :) Lion I did not like at all, but Mountain Lion is feeling as nimble and responsive as Snow Leopard was and I'm excited by the early reports that Mavericks is even... ummm... dare I say... snappier?!!!

Once MOTU posts a fixed PCIe driver, I'm all over Mavericks! :)

One thing I don't like: Apple's need to make everything "cutesy." Now the address book has to visually look like a book? Why? Sigh. :)

Good. Seriously. Not that I *care* what Windows users think, but it's almost every little "cute" thing like that which makes OSX look like it was meant for kids is fodder for their derision. :)

ML is good yes, but Mavericks is better, faster snappier, and less filling.

Yeah, I'm still on SL on my old MacPro, so I'm constantly bouncing back and forth between OS's. ML was a solid OS, but I tried Mavericks on a partition when it first came out on my 3.1 and I haven't looked back. I was surprised at that since I've never settled in on a .0 version before. I think once MOTU gets the PCIe thing corrected you'll be on that bandwagon as well.

Been playing around with Mavericks on an early 2008 MacBook Pro and DP 8.05. With NI Kore 1 for audio interface and running 64 bit Kore 2 plug-in. I was scared Mavericks was gonna break Kore, but everything is working great!

Mavericks is really good so far. Gonna clone my MacPro 3,1 drive today to an external, upgrade that and test.

Yeah First thing I did when jumping in is get rid of most of the cutesy stuff and dragging animations.

Google will be your friend. Now My studio machine exactly looks like it was in Snow-leopard.

"TotalSpaces" is an app that will make Spaces behave like it was in SL as well with some enhancement.
