Apple Wireless keyboard needs numeric pad

Post by James Steele »

Okay... so upgraded to a MacPro4,1 and now that I have bluetooth, I was looking online at the Mac bluetooth keyboards and again have to ask why they couldn't have made a bluetooth keyboard WITH the numeric keypad? How hard would it be to offer two models? :(

Hey Mr. Steele, I HIGHLY recommend the Logitech Solar keyboard. I just love it. The feel is great, it's reliable and it recharges via room light. I installed a row of LEDs over the keyboard and it keeps it at 100%. It does take up a USB port for the receiver but no more batteries!

Comes in 5 colors but i much prefer the black...

It's a very sturdy unit. I type like a drummer (that's what I started out as and still think of myself as...) so I destroy cheap keyboards in weeks. This one is still responsive and the letters haven't faded.

The only caveat would be that the function keys are mapped differently and you might have to hit the function key to get the actual function # printed on the key. Not a big deal since they added a function key next to the home key. But I've come to like that as I have a few extra keys and can control iTunes and other media players at the press of a key.

The first Bluetooth model that I'm typing on has the numeric keypad. Craigslist is your friend.

I have that one as well but find the flatter design of the keys on the Logitech board more forgiving and easier on the fingertips.

What Michael said. Couldn't go back to those older style keyboards. :)

I like the separate numeric keypad (which IS wireless BTW), because I can put it either side of the main keyboard.

I hear ya. Fact is I have a second wired Apple (flat) keyboard in my piano controller for transport during recording and the off times I need to boot with a key held down.

I bought the usb keyboard with the numbers keypad for that very reason - why they could not do a bluetooth keyboard with numbers is beyond me - do we not still need numbers when we are wireless?

I have that Apple first gen Bluetooth too. It works great for controlling DP. Note, it does not work with iOS devices.
