Second Instance of DP launching?

Recently, for some reason, when I launch DP (7.24) a second instance attempts to launch. The second instance shows up in the Force Quit window as "not responding". I can force quit and proceed as usual, but this is just strange. There's nothing I can say triggered it, either: no new plugs, same OS I've been using (Lion).

Anyone else ever seen this?

I have. Can't remember, but I think there were two versions on the HD. Check for multiple versions and delete offenders.

Good guess, but nope, just the one copy. When this happens, both are v. 7.24.

Another data point: This 2nd instance seems to be RE-launching itself sometime after I force quit it (and while the 1st instance of DP is running). Have only seen this once, will try to observe whatever's triggering that if/when it happens again....

Not at all, nothing to apologize for, and sorry if that came out snarky - wasn't meant that way at all.

I think I got it: The second instance of DP happens when I turn on Apple's Software Synth in the Interapplication MIDI . I'm trying to use this for a custom click to count off a live guitar track, something I've done in the past. When I Force Quit the 2nd instance of DP, the Software Synth goes Italic. So I head over to Interapplication MIDI, turn it back on, and voila, instance 2 returns. Damn.

Wonder if this is a known bug, and I wonder if DP version 8 fixes it. Getting on time to upgrade, I guess....
