1 TB Travelstar HDD for MBP?

Post by joelfriedman »

I need new HDD for more space on my Late 2011 (8,2) 15" MBP. Only 36 GB free and things are starting to slow down. I saw this drive - 1.0TB Travelstar™ 7K1000 Hard Disk Drive - at OWC and thought it was a great price ($112.99 at http://eshop.macsales.com/item/HGST/0J22423/). I've never used Travelstars, nor anything so big in a laptop before. Any advice/recommendations? Yay or nay?

Thanks!

Joel

Dump non-essentials and go SSD! Just a thought.

Yeah, but I also use it for teaching so I have a LOT of needed files on it and don't want to carry an external everywhere. I haven't used travel stats (ESP. After all the "Death Star" appellations) and I thought it was a terrific price - too good? - and couldn't find reviews. Just makes me a wee bit suspicious. Maybe the price is lower due to sad?.

No Dump the optical drive and put the big drive as a secondary drive in your laptop.
Get a smaller SSD for your OS and Apps.

Been using this for the last 2 years. Couldn't be happier.
