Can"t drag from soundbite window
Hi there,
Does anyone knows why I can"t drag any audio from soundbite window into Mach5?
I need to export audio clips out from DP and drag into Mach5 instead.
Thanks,
Johnson

Re: Can"t drag from soundbite window
I don't think you can but there's a quick workaround. On a Mac, control click on the soundbite and choose reveal in Finder and from there, drag it into MachFive. It's a little awkward and I agree it would be nice to do what you want to, but you can't - yet.

+1
I've just got Machfive and was disapointed that I couldnt dragdrop audio from my DAWs browser (even more surprised that you can't from MOTO's own DAW!)
From what I've heard, with Steinberg's Halion, it's possible from within their own DAWS like Cubase etc. Not sure about other DAWS tho.
What other software samplers can do, surely Machfive should aim equal or better?

That is really a minor concern. Look at what MachFive can do on all other fronts and then tell me the other samplers can do that. Let's start with the IRCAM stuff... Unequaled. Period.

Re: Can"t drag from soundbite window
I agree that Machfive is very powerful but in a DAW like Studio One 2.5 where everything is drag & drop, Machfive won't allow it which is a bummer as being a sampler it would make a HUGE difference to those who use M5 within S1. Studio One's dragdrop is probably the best out there right now... from what I hear, far superior to that of DP. I just hate seeing that 'won't drag to this location' icon!
I guess we all have our different primary concerns..
I'm still new to M5 but so far, so good..

Re: Can"t drag from soundbite window
Perhaps the workaround I suggested isn't as easy on Windows? I don't know. I'm more concerned with overall function than a relatively simple drag and drop issue. Again, the workaround (if it works for you) is nearly as fast (although it is certainly odd that DP doesn't do that).
I can drag and drop from many other apps into MachFive and I'd be surprised if it weren't implemented. But I suspect it's NOT as much a DP issue as a MachFive issue since I can drag and drop a soundbite (or portion thereof) from DP to the desktop and it exports fine. MachFive is not accepting the drop from DP, even when M5 is in standalone mode.
So yes, MOTU should definitely fix this and I have no doubt the will.

Re: Can"t drag from soundbite window
Thanks MIDI Life Crisis...
It used to work with Mach5 version 1 and 2 and it is a pain if you edited any audio and have to export and import again.. Just miss this function..

Re: Can"t drag from soundbite window
The workaround does work in windows, I was aware of that but I just found out that Kontakt 5 DOES allow direct dragdrop from my DAWS browser (Studio ONE).
It's a shame that Kontakt is better in this area, for the way I work, it's one less extra click (which is always welcome imo)..
