Export to movie quality

Post by jonwright »

I've just completed my first movie soundtrack in DP8 and came to export it using the export to movie function.

The export completed, but the quality is quite poor (the audio not the picture).

In the end I've had to fiddle around exporting the audio then manually adding it to the movie.

Is there a setting I've missed along the way that would cause this to happen?

First off MOTU broke movie exporting in DP 8 (unforgivable!) so that there are no options whatsoever, just a full, self-contained movie file. This and the GUI debacle needs to be fixed in the next release or this user is buying one of those second rate DAWs that hasn't broken these critical essential functions.

Second, even so, I export movies daily from DP 8.01 to send to collaborators and clients and the audio is exactly as intended.

Please provide what instruments and plugs you are using as well as the number of audio tracks.

People will make fun of this next comment but it is a fact that repairing permissions is critical after recent MOTU product updates. Not doing so results in dropouts and other audio problems.

Thanks for the reply MIDI.

Gosh, I didn't realise there were software issues.

I'm using a pretty big template with VEP, Kontakt, Omnisphere etc. Saying that, in this case because bouncing an normal causes terrible problems with VEP I've already mixed everything down to an audio track, which I then apply to the movie.

I'll give a permissions repair a try though.

It would help if you posted which Mac you're using as well as processor speed & version, the amount of RAM, and any other programs running along side DP. The bolded items should be in your signature on the board.

Hi MIDI, I've added the signature.

I'm using Vienna Ensemble Pro to network my orchestral libraries with a PC.

In the project I'm using Kontakt, Ozone, Alchemy, Omnisphere and Spaces Reverb.

Like I say, no problems at all when exporting a normal audio track, just when I export it into a Movie file.
