motu 896 mk3 no output...

Hi again.

i'm having this pesky issue with the output on my motu 896 mk3.

i simply cannot hear any output:

i am connected to analog one on the interface with my guitar. I should hear myself in the phones but nope, nothing. It had worked before but tonight i sat to record something else and it's the nothingness. Signal goes in the motu but nothing comes out, and i hadn't touched any setting on the cuemix.

no mute is engaged, all seems fine.

Is there an issue i am not aware of? am i forgetting something?

It is my first motu and my first serious piece of equipment in a very recent resolve to know more about mixing so the mistake could be on my side, but i've been banging my head on this for quite a while and it's driving me mental.

Any hunches?

You may have pushed the phones volume button on the 896mk3...
Is it turned up ?

yes unfortunately it was...

if i reproduce something with cubase, i can hear it. However, as much as the signal goes in the interface (i.e. blinking levels on the corresponding channels), and even cubase gets signal in, there is no signal out, unless i'm reproducing something i've recorded in the past.

Probably an important info:

with these premises, it should still be possible to record something, even if i can't hear it in the phones, and listen to it afterwards. Unfortunately no. I tried yesterday but even though there's an actual input going in the motu and in cubase, the waveform recorded is totally flat. Nothing goes in even though it should. It's really puzzling cause i had recorded before and no problem there.

For the record: volumes are high. I tried to record a clipping input, just to be on the safe side, but nothing happens.

You can switch the 'right - side meters' to outputs and see if there is anything...
Maybe a master fader is muted in Cuemix FX ?
Otherwise I don't know, try a replacement ?

ok, i can try that but, as much as it sounds hassling, i don't know how to do it. Would you point out how?

... I meant replacement 896mk3 by the dealer...
or contact Motu...

it suddenly works...

i just connected to analog in 2 and it complied...i then reconnected to analog one and it decided to comply as well...go-figure!
