Recording a Street Band

Post by dickhauser »

Friend is doing a video about a local "street band":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTFtGnG9MSs

He's asked me to look into some recording techniques that might improve the video sound track over the zoom that is normally used for the live work.

We might also record some tracks to use as beds in the video. Those, I suppose, could be done inside so I'm more comfortable about getting a good session.

I've successfully mixed to radio on a couple of projects so I'm assuming that I'll use the same sort of mix strategy.

You have a choice of field recording or syncing to pre-recorded tracks - or a combination of both.

Field recording goes back over 100 years and can get good results - especially with modern equipment. There is tons of information out there.
