sample patches distributon prevention

just say I have a bunch of patches I have made for a sampler.. they might be quite useful to some people... how may I *share* these but make it difficult for them to be passed on to other people? or uploaded to internet etc.

I guess some kind of format that requires an iLOk or other authorisation,,,

for example it has taken me years to develop some of these - and then some freelancer comes in my studio with a USB stick etc....

I spent hours dragging samples in and key mapping naming organising etc....

I just watched a movie and I am 99.9999% sure one of my ex assistants who worked on this movie for a rival company has taken a copy of reams of my stuff.. since there are a few sounds I made that are in that movie I didnt work on...

by sounds I mean artificial ambiences and whooshes I made playing with a sampler and plug ins etc....

any thoughts?

A difficult challenge. I don't know how you could do this, especially when working with others in your own studio when you need to give them access to your full-fidelity sounds. Perhaps a signed agreement, a sort of NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) that states they may not use your work anywhere but your studio...

You probably have copyright protection (under US law, at least) but good luck enforcing it.

If you are selling to the general public, I would imagine you could implement an iLok or other protection scheme, but that might require an arrangement with NI or whoever the sampler creator is. Hopefully others with more knowledge in this regard will weigh in.
